PART THREE
The realization that the blogger pass could get me to any fashion shows without queuing and also gives me the privilege to choose my seat came to me on the last show on the last day. #sigh
So there i was sitting among the crews, dancers, press, fashion stylists waiting comfortably for the fashion show.
This is me taking random shots of the rehearsal and the runway, pretending to change my camera settings for the show to look professional and legit.
Anyways, the last show of the event went well and i had the chance to sit on the front row seat and here are the shots of my Top 3 choice from IFW 2015
PEGGY HARTANTO
Curve SS15
Xadine's Top #3
Peggy is such a well known designer nationally and internationally. Recently, Gigi Hadid wore one of her signature piece. Her concept is very simple and straightforward making it easy for everyone to remember her designs. Her clean cutouts make her clothes very distinct.
As for her latest collection, she explored with a different element but still stayed true to her signature style. She mixed curves with her clean-cuts. That's one thing that designers have to do collection after collection, to explore with new elements but still have our style screaming out of the designs. Giving a sense of surprise and familiarity to the buyers.
MUNSOO KWON
SS15
Xadine's Top #2
"For Spring Summer 2015 Collection, Munsoo Kwon introduces the Han River and its surroundings with an emphasis on the emotional comfort it provides. Architectural details of the bridges that run through the River and the flying kite high in the sky are also the key motives in the collection."

If you take a closer look, you'll see the audience laughing. That's because the model walked down the runway ahead of time and once he finished his walk he ran like crazy to go back to his place for the actual walk. #lol
After the seond model walked down, i knew his style was similar to mine. I am planning to make a men's collection and his concept + designs became an overwhelming inspiration
Oversized t-shirts with dropped crotch pants in monochromatic colours.. Yes, please.
And the shoes. Oh my, he's one of the very few designers that appreciated footwear very well in the event. I mean shoes can either make or break you when comes to a fashion show. Most of the designers i've watched tend to forget about what shoes the model would be wearing. It's a very crucial matter. especially when it comes to heels. When the heels are too big or too tight, your model walks weird and your clothes won;t get as much attention as it should be. Everyone will be pointing out the weird walk and unprofessional choice of footwear. There goes your sales.
In this case, he didn't only consider the brand of the footwear (Nikes, you can never go wrong with them) He also chose the perfect design for his clothes.
This look is one of my favourite. The hoodies certainly got my attention. From afar it looks like as if you pulled your jacket up to your head, giving out a weird shape and odd silhouette. Definitely one of my fav look.
Mind my fangirling over the shoes, had to take a picture of them again and again.
Thank god, these photos weren't erased by the devil in my iPhoto.
When one sees an empty front row seat, one sits and takes a hell lot of pictures.
From all the fashion shows i've watched, his is one of the very few that had my attention the whole show and got me drooling for every look (Patrick Owen's fashion show is one of them as well)
ANNE AVANTIE
"Pasar Klewer Riwajatmoe Kini"
Xadine's Top #1
Pasar Klewer is a traditional market in Solo and last December a part of it was swallowed by the flames. Anne Avantie went to the site and recovered what was left of the Batik from the fire. She made a collection from what she recovered and in two months, she held an outstanding fashion show.
Anne Avantie has been in the fashion industry for 25 years. For the first 15 years, she claims that it's a long phase of trial and error and in that long process she has been learning from her mistakes, sharpening her talent.
When she has a design, she does a rough sketch of it and makes sure she translate what is in her mind to her pattern makers very well. She never did a detailed drawing of her piece and she believes that there are numerous ways in portraying your imagination/designs.
The designer also believes that a creation can be called good or bad according to one's taste. Though it's never really about making a good piece of clothing. It's about stating something, sending a message.
Anne Avantie felt that all of her deisgns are called Kebayas, even though most of her deisgns are Kebayas, she also has other deisgns that plays with silhouette
When she comes up with a concept, she always thinks of the beginning, ending and the bridge of the fashion show.
She surely thought everything through because even with her rich traditional taste and designs (that is so far from my style), i was so amazed of the detail on every design. All of these works were done in under 2 months.
She had Kimmy Jayanti to walk down the runway for her. When Queen J steps on the runway, everybody takes their camera and snap away.
Lucky me, she stood right in front of me.
Her fashion show was so packed that people stood on the stairs, snuck in on the sides of the runway.
She also had celebrities and top designers to walk down the runway giving roses to the front rowers.
I wasn't planning on watching this show because i'm not a fan of traditional indonesian designs but i would've had a major regret if i actually didn't watch her show.
Shoutout to the paps.
I could see that everything she did, she created, she designed was with her heart. She cared for every detail and mistake. Her show gave me goosebumps and showed me what a real designer is.
Art always comes before money.
And here she is, Anne Avantie.
~ Standing ovation ~
Here are the websites of the designers i've reviewed
It was a fun weekend for me and i really hope that i could have this opportunity again next year!
Lights out,
X
