A week ago, I received an invitation to Peggy Hartanto & Sheila Agatha's Fashion Show at Bazaar Fashion Festival 2014. I was delighted. And panicked as well. Why? Well i didn't have a solid outfit plan for the event. Here's two of my very important rule in life. Never go to a fashion event without planning your outfit a week in advanced and Always have outfit B and C. However, i broke that rule. I really couldn't make out a "good enough" outfit for the event. Yes, i can play it safe and wear a mediocre semi-formal outfit like how i always did but i had to stop because 1. I have to stop playing it safe 2. I knew there was going to be a lot of influential people in the fashion world attending the event and who knows maybe my outfit might catch their eyes and voila, i'm their new best friend #dreamingalittletoobig
So, i went around shopping malls but nothing screams out to me. NOTHING. They all had flaws i couldn't see pass through. Now, here's one thing you should know about me. I can shop very slowwwlyy and look at every piece in the store or i can literally just scan through the store and not touch a single piece until i see something that screams out to me. What do i mean by "screams out to me"? It's simply clothes that i stare at a little too long and it will be stuck in my mind until i buy it.
So there i was standing in the middle of a shop looking like a little kid who has lost her mommy.
Then, I realized maybe buying isn't the solution. After all, i can't keep buying clothes every time theres an event but my wardrobe isn't the answer either. That's when the word"DIY" got to me.
There it is, my first ever DIY (by "first ever" as in first ever wearable DIY). It'd only a one-colored choker as it is after all my first time making a choker. Maybe next time i'll explore on multi-colored chokers and much daring designs! I bought the lace, the chains and the beads (+ the ribbon to tie the choker) @ Toko Renda, Senayan City. At first, i didn't have a pendant and the choker seemed plain without it. So, i went around the house and hunted down old necklaces. Then, i found a Rosary necklace with a huge cross as the pendant. #jackpot
I tied my hair like an elementary student because i was going for Esther the Orphan look. Since i won't be able to celebrate Halloween, i decided to celebrate it earlier :P
Classic X Minimalistic |
If you're wondering why i dont dress fully like Esther because i added a twist of my own style to look. Her look is very classic, old-fashioned #duh. So i went 180 deg. and make a simple minimalistic look instead. I wanted to make the outfit as simple as possible so that the choker would be the center of the outfit. Thus, i went for black lips so people would see my lips first and then down to my choker.
